Born and raised in rural Mudgee rural New South Wales. Kurt's dance education began at the age of 12, with strong focus on Classical Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary.
 

A scholarship to attend Alegria School of Ballet under the direction of Hilary Kaplin and Archibald McKenzie, saw Kurt begin his studies. Here Kurt was a recipient of the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal Award. Kurt was 1 of only 2 to receive this award that year.

He has valuable performance experience competing in the R.A.D Isobel Anderson Awards, The McDonald Ballet Scholarship, Cecchetti Medals Awards, The Alana Haines Awards, Genee International Ballet Competition and was also selected as a candidate for the Prix De Lausanne.

 

Kurt was offered his first contract with the Australian Ballet Company, to perform in a season of Graeme Murphy’s Swan Lake. He then travelled to Budapest, studying and performing with the Hungarian National Ballet Company before heading the Queensland Ballet Company (PY). He worked closely with the company and performed several ballets such as; Swan Lake, King Arthur and the Tales of Camelot, Don Quixote, Carmen and The Little Mermaid, Working with coaches and choreographers; Nils Christie, Lisa Wilson, Paul Boyd, Janette Mulligan and Li Cuxin.
 

Kurt’s dance career has also seen him travel the Mediterranean ocean as Principal Male Dancer on a luxury cruise line with further offers made from Princess Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
 

In addition to that Kurt is also an avid choreographer (KDWchoreography), with many of his works and solo pieces going on to win numerous awards within the eisteddfod and international competition circuit, including a finalist in the Showcase Australian Dance Championships, winning the City of Sydney Eisteddfod Open Jazz, Open Lyrical and U10 Classical groups categories, and pieces competing at the Asian Grand Prix, Alana Haines Awards and McDonalds Ballet Scholarship.
 

Kurt has also followed the contemporary pathway, being accepted into Transit Dance Company under the direction of Paul Malek in 2016, working with some of Australia's leading contemporary choreographers such as Amy Hollingsworth, Daniel Jaber and Paul Malek. Professional works include 'BOYZ', 'Yours Truly', 'Every Inch of Me'.

Kurt is thrilled to be part of the En Pointe team as Manager and looks forward to the continued success and growth of the school.
