After-School Program
Dance has been embedded in Andie’s life from a young age. After years of training and performing she developed a passion for teaching and coaching, with the hope of sharing the love of dance with other people.
Andie is a registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (CBTS RAD). Andie has extended her teaching practice into all facets of ballet training. She has worked with students to develop technique, enhance performance qualities, build a strong understanding of their own bodies, learn and refine repertoire and variations, gain confidence in pointe work and excel in classical examinations in RAD, Vaganova and Cecchetti.
Andie has extensive experience working in productions as both choreographer and creative director in the corporate and education sectors. Andie has worked for many years as one of the Artistic staff of the Brisbane City Youth Ballet, rehearsing and staging ballets such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, The Wizard of Oz and The Magic Faraway Tree, working with students from across Australia to give them the opportunity to experience the ‘magic of theatre.'
Conditioning is a strong focus for Andie and she is passionate about building an understanding of anatomy and physiology in her students to assist in injury prevention and to build optimal technique. Andie is a trained Progressing Ballet Technique teacher, and infuses this along with elements of yoga, Pilates, cardio and proprioceptive training into her classes.
Working with students at all levels, Andie teaches with inclusivity, patience and joy, and knows that success comes in many forms. Andie has had the privilege of watching students develop use their skills in all aspects of their life, as well as preparing students and young dancers for performances, competitions and professional jobs around the world. Andie’s students have experienced great success in the Genee, Prix du Lausanne, Youth American Grand Prix, Brisbane International Contemporary Dance Prix, local eisteddfods and more.
Andie focuses on developing strong foundation and authentic artistic quality in her students. As a mother of five children, she understands the importance of a nurturing environment and a strong sense of belonging. Andie is delighted to help aspiring dancers get closer to their dream and is so happy to be part of the En Pointe School of Ballet family.'
